Nominate to join the ALEC board

ALEC is governed by a skilled group of individuals who provide strategic leadership to help ALEC achieve its vision of healthy futures for arid lands and people. The Board's principal responsibilities are to review and monitor ALEC’s work to ensure that ALEC is achieving its objectives and meeting its legal and regulatory obligations and to develop appropriate strategy and policy.

Our Board Members volunteer their time and expertise - and lots of it - and their work is integral to ALEC's success. We are seeking EOI for 2-3 new board members to serve on the ALEC Board of Governance, particularly from nominees with aspirations/ambition to move into office-bearing roles next year.

Areas of expertise we are seeking include:

  • Finance (with intent to take on Treasurer’s role in the future)
  • Legal

You will join an experienced and committed Board who bring governance and sector expertise to their role. Their profiles can be viewed at https://www.alec.org.au/our_board.

The Board commitment is 3-4 hours a month for board meetings as well as sub-committee work from time to time. Anyone interested in training to take on the role Treasurer will also need to commit to monthly finance meetings of 1 hour.

The Board meet via a mix of online and in person meetings on Arrernte country in Mparntwe, Alice Springs. To achieve the right mix of skills, interstate candidates will be considered.
