ASHM is a peak organisation for health workers and medical professionals who work in HIV, blood borne viruses (BBVs) and sexual and reproductive health (SRH). ASHM draws on its experience and expertise to support the health workforce and to contribute to the sector, domestically and internationally. ASHM is a professional, not-for-profit, member-based organisation. It supports its members, sector partners and collaborators to generate knowledge and action in clinical management and research, education, policy and advocacy in Australasia.

The position sits within our Conference and Events team, a multi award winning (MEA Awards) team with over 20 years of experience delivering conferences, exhibitions and events. The team, in addition to being in-house meeting managers, are also accredited PCOs who provide a diverse range of customised conference and event management services to organisations and government departments in the areas of research, science, medicine, health policy and education. Our mission is to "create and deliver events that educate, inform and leave a lasting legacy for delegates and the host organisations."

The Position

You will be working alongside our Senior Event Managers as an integral part of the team to:

  • Co-ordinate all areas of event logistics, including the implementation of conference marketing and sponsorship plans, AV and venue management.
  • Prepare all documentation and conference materials, correspondence and reports for review and approval.
  • Liaise with internal and external suppliers, members, sponsors, exhibitors, presenters, registrants and all stakeholders on project activities.
  • Travel domestically/internationally to support the onsite delivery of conferences.

About You

  • You will have the knowledge and understanding of best practice event management procedures.
  • You will be comfortable interacting with both internal and external contributors and stakeholders.
  • You will enjoy working to high standards in a busy role and have the ability to multitask.
  • You will have well-developed written communication skills, a high level of verbal communication skills and a professional telephone manner.
  • You will have great enthusiasm and enjoy learning new things.
  • You will have a minimum of two years’ experience working in event management and possess tertiary qualifications in Events or Project Management, enrolment in same or equivalent experience.
  • Event management software (eg Events Air) experience is highly desirable.
