Asia Society Australia seeks an early-mid career professional to curate, manage and deliver the organisation’s programs and professional development courses that enhance Australia’s international relations and Asia intelligence, particularly among emerging leaders and university students.
The position is responsible for leading Asia Society Australia’s national Generation Asia initiative of Asia-engaged mid-career professionals. The role is responsible for delivering stimulating events and conferences, curating a professional development program and growing an expanding national network of Asia-passionate emerging leaders.
The position also works closely on Asia Society Australia’s partnership with RMIT University in delivering impactful programs for RMIT students and raising the profile of the RMIT Asia Trade and Innovation Hub.
Additionally, the position works across Asia Society’s global centres and a broad network of stakeholders from Australian government, industry and think tanks to advance Australia’s security and prosperity in Asia.
The role is ideally suited to a motivated self-starter with experience in delivering high quality events, managing local and virtual professional networks, who has a keen eye for detail and a passion for Asia.
Key Duties
- Lead on Asia Society Australia’s Generation Asia initiative by conceptualising, curating and delivering stimulating and thought-provoking programs for Asia-passionate emerging leaders. This will include delivery of the annual Emerging Leaders Forum, and maintaining and growing the Generation Asia network across Australia.
- Be a strategic contact point in Asia Society Australia’s partnership with RMIT University, including the design and delivery of an interactive industry forum that enhances Asia literacy and student career development. The role will also build relationships and work across relevant RMIT schools and colleges.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of Asia Society Australia’s professional development programs dedicated to enhancing Australia’s Asia intelligence. This will include the China Primer program, as well as other professional development initiatives.
- Project management, including grant management and reporting, identifying and applying for new funding opportunities through grants and sponsorship, stakeholder liaison with government and corporate contacts, maintaining and growing an online CRM contact database and budget management.
- Delivery of events, including logistics management (in-person and hybrid), venue liaison, event software, AV functionality, and the ability to delegate across a team.
- Communications tasks related to programs, including the promotion and dissemination of programs through online software, social media, web listings, CRM tracking and the design of comms assets.
- Other duties as required by the organisation.
Selection Criteria
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Arts, Communications, International Studies or related field.
Essential Skills:
- 3 to 4 years of relevant work, internship or volunteering experience in event, program or project management in a corporate, academic or not-for-profit setting.
- Proven ability to coordinate projects and events from start to finish.
- Strong research, communication and writing skills.
- Excellent relationship management skills with strong ability to interact with public and senior business, government and cultural stakeholders.
- Impeccable time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and prioritise tasks efficiently.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated work experience and knowledge of Asia.
- A familiarity with Australia’s Asia dedicated youth organisations and/or university alumni networks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficient in event management and invitation systems such as Humanitix and Ortto.
- Ability to work in a small, productive team with tight timelines.
- Ability to work before/after standard business hours
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in delivering hybrid events and an understanding of relevant event AV hardware.
- Social Media management, including Hootsuite or similar social media management tools.
- Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) Systems (Salesforce)
