Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) has grown to become Australia's largest national educational program for children on the autism spectrum, with nine independent schools operating from 67 locations in NSW and South Australia catering to approximately 1,200 students. Aspect is looking for a passionate, enthusiastic and flexible Education leader to work as a member of our student-centred, multi-disciplinary education team. 

What you will do

Lead and collaborate with a team of specialists including teachers, teacher's aides, school therapists, coordinators, administrators and other Aspect staff to deliver our evidence-informed, student focused autism-specific approach - the Aspect Comprehensive Approach [ACA]. Use a student-centred and family-focused approach to ensure the delivery of quality educational standards. About the School

Aspect Vern Barnett School provides placement for approximately 120 students on the autism spectrum from ages 4 to 16 years from Forestville, as well as from five satellite classes within the Catholic and Department of Education schools in Sydney’s northern suburbs. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Work with the Principal to lead and plan the operational running of the school
  • Lead on high quality implementation of the ACA across the school to address specific individual needs
  • Provide regular coaching, support and supervision to staff team to improve practice
  • Develop knowledge/practice from other professionals in collaboration with the school's Leadership Team
  • Develop and foster effective working relationships with colleagues
  • Leading other school initiatives, events, programs and activities as required

What we are looking for:

  • To provide for consistency of support across the school, we are ideally looking for a candidate available to work full time (38 hrs per week). We would consider 4 days a week for the right candidate.  
  • Recognised University or Tertiary teaching qualifications as determined by NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with others
  • Demonstrated dynamic leadership abilities including managing a highly effective team
  • Experience working with students with autism or neurodiversity desirable
  • Experience in developing and applying curriculum for students with autism or neurodiversity preferred
  • NSW Working With Children Check for paid employment
