About the role

The Corporate Executive position forms part of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT). Under the governance of the Board and direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the position contributes at an Executive level to the design and implementation of the organisation's strategic plan, effectively driving operations, shaping the Aspire culture and taking responsibility for the safe, ethical, legally compliant and financially viable not for profit business operations both in the short and long term.

Key responsibilities

Consistent with the Aspire Vision, Mission and Values; this position provides high quality, efficient services through the following Key Responsibility Areas:

  • As an integral part of the Executive Leadership Team, provide Aspire staff with strategic and operational leadership
  • Provide timely and relevant information, advice and reports to the CEO and the Board as required regarding Business Services
  • Oversee the management of Aspire's financial services in compliance with legislation, funding agreements and in accordance with Aspire's policies
  • Establish and maintain effective professional relationships with relevant key stake-holders, including liaising with funding bodies and other organisations as required
  • Lead and coordinate the annual budget and acquittals process, ensuring all relevant managers are advised effectively, consulted regularly and timelines are achieved
  • Lead and oversee the Corporate Services functions of finance, data management, procurement, administration, facilities, management and maintenance, and ICT systems
  • Lead a culture that promotes child safety through proactive and responsive practices and procedures, and the recruitment, supervision and professional development of staff, with particular attention to Aboriginal and CALD cultural safety and children with a disability
  • Actively participate as an ELT team member in relevant meetings, professional development processes such as supervision, training and quality improvement processes in line with Aspire guidelines and requirements
  • Comply with all WHS responsibilities appropriate to the position and consistent with legal obligation and Aspire culture, policy and procedure
  • Other duties/delegations as directed by the CEO, relevant to the main focus of the position

Desired skills and experience

  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications in Accounting/Finance (CA/CPA) along with extensive experience and demonstrated successful performance outcomes in a senior management role within the community services/disability sector or similar field of service delivery
  • Demonstrated ability and competence in leadership and management of a complex budget in an unstable funding environment
  • Extensive knowledge, experience and demonstrated effective performance in the interpretation and application of funding contracts, finance systems management, risk management and legislative compliance
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to apply these skills with a wide range of staff, external stakeholders, community organisation, clients of service and members of the public
  • Demonstrated ability to write complex, fit-for-purpose documents and reports
  • High level computer literacy and an understanding of Informative Communication Technology
  • An understanding of contemporary financial management issues and how they may impact the community and the organisation
  • High levels of Emotional Intelligence and the ability to self-manage
