Founded in 2001, the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is Australia’s largest human rights organisation providing support to people seeking asylum. We are an independent not-for-profit organisation whose programs support and empower people seeking asylum to maximise their own physical, mental and social well being. We champion the rights of people seeking asylum and mobilise a community of compassion to create lasting social and policy change.

About The Role

Reporting to the Lead Campaigner, this essential role involves supporting the creation and execution of digital campaigns aimed at engaging and mobilising supporters while raising awareness about issues affecting refugees and asylum seekers. By collaborating closely with the Organising Program and the broader Advocacy team, your excellent communication skills and innovative social media strategies will effectively engage ASRC supporters and contribute to driving significant policy change.

This position is part- time, 3 days per week.

About You

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and passionate, with a passion for understanding the end-to-end process of digital campaigns. Additionally, you will possess the following skills and expertise:

  • At least three years demonstrated experience in digital campaigning or a related role, including ability to develop and maintain digital campaign strategies and supporter journeys;
  • Excellent written and communication skills, with the ability to extract core messages and distil them into snappy headlines and engaging content that resonates with target audiences;
  • Demonstrated experience using digital communication platforms (for example NationBuilder and NewMode) to communicate with a range of audiences;
  • Demonstrated experience with design and video production tools for simple, quick turnaround production;
  • Demonstrated experience with social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Tiktok and Instagram, and how they can be used to grow audiences and engage supporters; and
  • Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Lived experience of seeking asylum in Australia is highly desirable. Knowledge of policy and issues impacting on people seeking asylum in Australia as well as previous experience working within a not-for-profit environment, would also be advantageous.
