The Chief of Staff role is a key senior role in the leadership team to help drive ATEC’s culture and people performance globally. In this role you will play a role in leadership decision-making, have your own priorities aligned to the overall company goals and consult with the leadership and management teams to creatively solve problems to achieve our culture and performance outcomes. As part of your growth in this role you will also have opportunities to take ownership of special projects, such as grants management.

We are looking for:

  • A highly empathetic person with an ability to connect with all the team and understand the motivations that drive them
  • A strategic advisor and confidant (a highly trusted person with whom to discuss and pressure‐test ideas)
  • An organiser to help manage our overall priorities, projects, decisions, and actions
  • An extra set of hands to help with strategic priorities on anything from Grants to Growing the business.

Accountable for:

  • Strategy: Getting the right people doing the right things at the right time (Leadership and management level)
  • Strategy: Driving our culture and internal communications
  • Execution: Rolling-out and continuously improving the people processes, templates and staff adherence for recruitment & onboarding, performance management, training and development, staff exit (executing for HQ Team, consultant to local HR teams) templates and processes for HQ Team, following down to local HR teams
  • Execution: Coordinating leadership / key role recruitment
  • Execution: Running the Great Place to Work (GPTW) Committee and social initiatives
  • Execution: Oversee Grants Management Team
  • Governance: Regular review (2 year cycle) of Company Policies and roll-out to staff
  • Governance: Setting up and coordinating key meetings and workshops (Annual ILT Strategy Workshop, All Hands, Quarterly All Managers meeting)
  • Finance: Prepare HQ Team Staffing Budget and act as a consult for country staffing budget development
  • Other activities as required by the CEO

The type of tasks you’ll be doing:

  • Having calls with leadership / local HR teams on people/HR related matters providing advice or support as needed
  • Working with leadership to create organisation-wide comm’s plans for key projects / people changes
  • Driving our “Great Place to Work” social initiatives with committee members
  • Rotating chair of weekly leadership meeting
  • Observing how the meetings and communication flows are working and coming up with ideas to continuously improve
  • Developing a global retention strategy
  • Developing a learning and development strategy for the leadership and management team
  • Visiting our country teams to embed ATEC’s culture and ways of working
  • Ensuring management is following the quarterly performance management process
  • Weekly calls with CEO and grants team to prioritise and coordinate funding opportunities and project milestone reporting

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience in driving organisational culture, change management and key people functions of retention and learning and development
  • Deep knowledge of, and experience in or with at least one of ATEC’s growth countries in Asia / Africa (e.g. Bangladesh, India, Rwanda, Nepal)
  • Expert in stakeholder management and ability to facilitate and influence others at all levels
  • Project Management

Desirable:

  • Prior experience in working at a start-up/scaling up company
  • Tracom Social Styles Certification or equivalent
  • Familiar or previous experience implementing Scaling Up methodology, in particular TopGrading
