ATSA is a not for profit charity and the leading industry body representing the views and aspirations of assistive technology suppliers across Australia to achieve excellence, quality, value and positive outcomes for suppliers, Assistive technology (AT) consumers, stakeholders and the broader community.

ATSA advocate for best practices and ethical standards across the AT industry to ensure end users are equitably catered for in their AT needs.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an enthusiastic Policy Officer to join our small, collaborative team. Reporting to the Director of Policy and Advocacy, you’ll play a key role in advancing ATSA’s policy agenda and representing our members' and consumers' interests to government and industry stakeholders. With a flexible work environment and the option to work remotely or from our Sydney CBD office, this 4 day per week role offers an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact in the assistive technology sector.

Key Duties include:

  • Research, monitor and analyse policies impacting the assistive technology sector.
  • Draft position statements, policy submissions and other key policy documents.
  • Engage with members, stakeholders and government bodies to ensure policies reflect diverse perspectives.
  • Prepare updates and briefing materials on policy issues for internal and external audiences.
  • Respond to policy-related enquiries and maintain a database of resources for organisational reference.
  • Represent ATSA in forums, consultations and working groups.

ABOUT YOU

You don't have to be perfect, but our preferred candidate will ideally have the following:

  • Proven experience in policy research, development and analysis, ideally within disability, health or assistive technology.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian government policy and legislative frameworks impacting AT.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and advocacy skills, with experience in public forums and working groups.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop clear, accessible policy papers and position statements.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
