About the role:

We are seeking a Settlement Generalist Worker to join our settlement services for an immediate start. Multiple full time and part time (21 hours per week) positions are available depending on your skills, experience and availability. The positions are based in Auburn and surrounding areas, and/or Canterbury Bankstown. We provide flexible working arrangements and working days are negotiable. The positions are on fixed term contract until 30 June 2026 with a possibility to become permanent afterwards.

The main responsibility of the position is to provide settlement settlement-related information, advice, advocacy, referral services and group information sessions to the newly arrived migrants and refugees in our service area.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide settlement intake and casework to all eligible clients
  • Design and implement group activity plans
  • Achieve all key performance indicators (KPI) in the Annual Work Plan progressively and proportionally
  • Provide required reports including quantitative and qualitative inputs on services and clients
  • Attend network meetings and develop and maintain a close and productive working relationship with partner organisations
  • Contribute to signature events, i.e., International Women’s Day and Refugee Week Celebrations

Remuneration is in accordance with SCHADS Modern Award Level 3. Paypoint depends on qualifications and experience. ADSI is a Public Benevolent Institution and provides staff with salary packaging arrangements.

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Tertiary qualification in Community Services, Social Science or Social Work
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in community services or supporting migrants and refugees
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated skills to deal with different types of issues affecting newly arrived migrants and refugees
  • Timely and accurate reporting skills as per external or internal requirements/standards
  • Precise & concise communication skills and ability to present client issues and solutions clearly
  • Proven skills to establish, maintain and strengthen partnerships with external stakeholders
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite
  • Full NSW driver’s license and a comprehensively insured vehicle
  • Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check Clearances
  • Certificate of COVID-19 vaccination (minimum 2 doses)

Desirable

  • Proficiency in a community language which represent the main communities in the Cumberland LGA.
