About the role

The Young Parents Program takes a strengths-based early intervention approach, building the capacity of young parents to live independently in appropriate housing, develop parenting and life skills to ensure best outcomes for their children.

This role provides high quality holistic therapeutic case management support to young parents aged 13-24 years with complex needs to develop independent parenting and living skills, through integrated, individualised case management, behaviour support and direct parenting to ensure best possible outcomes for children.

What you will bring

  • Proven experience in casework / case management including holistic assessment of client needs and development of case plans
  • Experience in working competently with staff and clients from cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds with respect and humility
  • Ability to provide practical and emotional support to families including the development of life and parenting skills
  • Understanding of adolescent development and best practice working with young women and men with complex needs and behaviours and demonstrated sensitivity to the needs and issues facing young parents (aged 13-24) and their children
  • Demonstrated understanding of parent craft, child development, health care needs of babies/children and best practice in parenting newborns, toddlers, and younger children.
  • Willingness and ability to do weekday shift work including morning shifts, evening shifts and sleepovers
  • A relevant degree in social work, social welfare or psychology is highly desirable for this role

Mandatory requirements

  • A Working with Children Check
  • Current Australian Drivers Licence
  • Registered on the Residential Care Workers Register

Further information

This role is covered by the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award - Level 4. Salary from $85,145.84 + superannuation + access to salary packaging.
