About the role

The role works directly with young people, providing support and engagement with the following:  employment and training pathways, re-engagement with education, engagement in appropriate support services, engagement in community services, increased cultural and social wellbeing, financial capability and independence, as well as a potential decrease or elimination of antisocial behaviour.

The Support Worker will have the responsibility to engage with and empower young people participating in the YDH Program. They will lead by example, modelling appropriate professional behaviours. The Support Worker will work with the Program Coordinator in the day to-day running of the YDH. They will also participate in engaging and maintaining partnerships with local stakeholders, and will utilise ARC technology such as databases, for program documentation and reporting.

What you will bring

• Demonstrated experience working in family programs, and the desire to learn the skills required to work with families with complex needs, including those experiencing Domestic & Family Violence or those who are engaged in the Child Protection system.
• Demonstrated experience in maintaining strong and effective partnerships with community groups, service providers and other key stakeholders to facilitate client outcomes.
• Knowledge of and experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse people and communities.
• Working with Children Check and a valid driver’s license are mandatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Degree, Associate Diploma, or relevant Certificate and experience in human services or relevant experience and expertise attained through previous appointments/services and /or study

Further information 

This role is covered by the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award - Level 3, Annual rate from $71,155.76 + superannuation + access to salary packaging.
