Outline & Purpose of Role:

Australia for UNHCR is an international aid agency that raises funds from Australian donors to support the humanitarian operations of the UN Refugee Agency. Established in 2000 as part of a global fundraising network it has now raised more than $390 million from a broad network of individuals, community and corporate partners.

Reporting to the Content Manager, this role is responsible for producing engaging, impactful, accurate and timely content in support of Australia for UNHCR’s objectives and activities, particularly to reach new audiences, inspire increased support, and deepen our relationship with a variety of supporters.

This role requires an experienced content creator who can work both independently and collaboratively with and provide communications for a wide range of stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will approach work with initiative, drive and internal motivation to raise awareness of refugees and displaced people.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Content Manager, the Content Producer is responsible for:

  • sourcing, gathering and developing content to support communication and fundraising objectives
  • creating content for different types of donors, such as corporate and high net worth individuals, and platforms, including digital, print and presentations, ensuring content fits style, brand and tone guidelines, is up-to-date and accurate;
  • creating fundraising emails, letters and welcome packs and assisting with content for public and internal presentations
  • copy editing content to ensure it is accurate, concise and aligned to content and stakeholder goals
  • working collaboratively across the organisation to develop creative concepts and content, and identifying ways to engage existing donors and new audiences with a variety of content and platforms
  • contributing to the production of in-house publications, writing and updating content for the website, and providing basic video editing for socials and other platforms
  • supporting social media content production and community management as required
  • staying abreast of communication trends and activities and identifying new opportunities to tell captivating stories

The successful applicant will possess the following attributes:

  • Five years’ experience in a relevant role - e.g. in-house or agency content production
  • High level copywriting and editing skills
  • Ability for quick turnarounds in emergency situations
  • Detail-oriented, with strong planning and organisational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Flexible and agile with the ability to work well under deadlines and pressure
  • Previous experience in writing fundraising copy for emails and print
  • Experience managing social media content and communities and video editing, desirable
