The Australian Childhood Foundation has a strong reputation for delivery of clinical services, professional training and secondary consultation programs built upon up to date, evidence based theoretical frameworks including the neurobiology of trauma, attachment and relational theories and child development. This theoretical framework provides the foundation upon which all elements of care and intervention are provided by the Foundation.
The Northern Territory Department of Health has developed a three-stream program to increase support for children and young people across the NT who display harmful sexual behaviour. The Foundation has been awarded funding to operate 'stream two' which will provide assessment and treatment to children and young people between the ages of 8-12 who display harmful sexual behaviour that is considered inappropriate and/or problematic. Service delivery will be based out of Alice Springs and Darwin with outreach support to Tennant Creek and Katherine. As part of this, the Foundation will act as a conduit between the other streams; place-based support service delivery in community and justice-involved young people through NT Health.
The Psychologist will engage in clinical assessment and therapeutic support with children and young people who have displayed harmful sexual behaviour and their families/caregivers. The role includes outreach support to remote locations.
