About the Mallee Cliffs site:

AWC has entered into an historic partnership, Relocation of Locally Extinct Mammals (RoLEM) with the NSW Government for the management of two State protected areas; Mallee Cliffs NP in southwestern NSW and the Pilliga State Conservation Area in north-central NSW. For these project AWC has committed to:

  • Reintroducing mammals by establishing a large feral predator-free area (several thousand hectares), using conservation fencing, into which up to 10 threatened mammal species will be released.
  • Deliver associated land management (feral animal control, weed control etc.) and science services across the national parks.

About the role:

AWC is seeking a committed and enthusiastic leader to head up the Mallee Cliffs NP Operations team through the effective planning, coordination and delivery of land management services across the Mallee Cliffs NP area. The ideal candidate will be a very practical person with a passion for saving Australia’s wildlife and landscapes.

The key responsibilities of this position are to:

  1. Lead the Mallee Cliffs operations team in the delivery of land management services across the Mallee Cliffs NP area utilising AWC systems and processes.
  2. Work towards seamless integration between AWC’s Operations and Science teams.
  3. Maintain a close and effective working partnership with the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service including personnel from the local Mallee Cliffs NP, regional representatives and RoLEM project managers.
  4. Engage positively with the local community and other key stakeholders.

This role is based at Mildura with regular commuting to the Mallee Cliffs NP. This is a unique opportunity to join Australia’s largest non-government conservation organisation and help shape the future of private sector conservation in Australia.
