Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC) is the largest private (non-profit) owner of land for conservation in Australia, protecting endangered wildlife at30sanctuaries in which we own or manage in partnership, covering a total of more than 6.5 million hectares in iconic regions such as the Kimberley, Cape York, the Top End and Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre. With a focus on practical land management, informed by world-class science, AWC is implementing a dynamic new model for conservation.

AWC is seeking an experienced Maintenance Officer to oversee the maintenance of infrastructure, plant and equipment, electrical, plumbing and gas works in the North West (NW) Kimberley region.
The successful candidate will have wide range of experience in the trade of construction, plumbing, or electrical- ideally in rural and remote settings. Skills in metal fabrication, and mechanical (diesel) will be looked on favourably. It is crucial that the Regional Maintenance Officer is entirely capable of working autonomously and with a wide range of people including operations managers, land managers, scientists, volunteers, visitors, AWC indigenous rangers and be committed to helping AWC develop and implement a new model for conservation.

Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC) is the largest private (non-profit) owner/manager of land for conservation in Australia managing 30 sanctuaries, including 7 properties in the Kimberley region.
Mornington Wilderness Camp (MWC) is one of the Kimberley’s highest rated destinations, known worldwide for its scenery (sandstone escarpments, ancient gorges and vast savanna woodlands), its wildlife (Gouldian Finches are one of 200 bird species) and the integration with a working conservation project. Attracting 4,500 visitors each year, MWC offers safari tent accommodation, 30 site campground, a licensed bush restaurant and a range of tours/interpretative products. AWC also operates Charnley River Wilderness Camp in the central Kimberley, with a spacious 60 site campground and a small range of tours on offer.
The position would be based predominantly at MWC while the visitor season is open March-November. For the remainder of the year the position may require frequent travel across numerous AWC Kimberley properties. At times you may be required to travel to other AWC properties across Australia to provide assistance. The role of the NW Maintenance Officer is a fulltime position on site. However; a rotational roster to accommodate travel and a home base in Broome or Derby is negotiable.
The NW Maintenance Officer reports directly to the Kimberley Wilderness Camp Operations Manager. Your responsibilities will include- but are not limited to:
The Mornington Wilderness Camp operates on a seasonal basis requiring the Maintenance Officer to be on-site for approximately 9 months (March –November). Throughout this period the offer includes basic single accommodation, shared bathroom facilities, cooking facilities or the option of chef cooked meals at a staff discounted rate. In consideration of harsher weather conditions; the wet season (November-March) may see a required relocation for this position.Relocation will be discussed prior, with appropriate lead time.
