The Australian Professional Association for Trans Health (AusPATH) is the national peak body representing, supporting, and connecting those working to strengthen the health, rights and wellbeing of all trans people (both binary and non-binary). Among our membership we count over 600 professional members from a wide range of healthcare and related disciplines.

Overview of position:

The Australian Professional Association of Transgender Health (AusPATH) is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CEO will report to the Board and will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the organisation and the long-term implementation of the organisation's strategy.

The successful applicant will solidify the sustainability of AusPATH into the future. This role is pivotal in supporting and advocating for the delivery of gender-affirming care across Australia.

This position is remote and can be undertaken from anywhere in Australia.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Management:

  • Oversee the daily operations of AusPATH, ensuring efficient and effective implementation of organisational objectives.
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the organisation, aligning with the mission and vision of AusPATH.
  • Report to the Board of Directors on the progress and implementation of the strategic plan.
  • Manage memberships of the organisation and develop strategies to grow the membership of AusPATH.

Advocacy and Strategy:

  • Lead the transition of AusPATH from a small national professional association to a significant national advocacy organisation.
  • Engage with state and federal governments to build relationships and advocate for policies and practices that ensure timely and appropriate healthcare access for trans individuals.
  • Represent AusPATH in media engagements, promoting the organisation's goals and increasing public awareness of gender-affirming care, and contribute towards improving representation and understanding of trans people in Australia.

Fundraising and Financial Management:

  • Develop and implement strategies to secure funding for the organisation, ensuring financial sustainability.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, sponsors, and funding bodies.
  • Oversee the management of the organisation's budget, ensuring responsible financial practices and reporting.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare and related professionals, government agencies, community organisations, and other stakeholders.
  • Foster a collaborative environment to address the inequalities faced by trans individuals when accessing healthcare.
  • Adopt a strengths-based approach to discussions regarding trans people.

Organisational Growth and Development:

  • Drive initiatives to expand AusPATH's impact, further positioning the organisation as a leader in the field of trans health.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of programs that support healthcare professionals in providing high-quality care to trans individuals.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a non-profit, healthcare, or advocacy organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans and drive organisational growth.
  • Strong advocacy skills with experience in engaging with government bodies and media.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in fundraising and securing organisational funding.
  • Understanding of the health context for trans individuals in Australia and internationally.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of AusPATH.
