The Avenue Neighbourhood House’s vision is to provide opportunities for equitable community engagement through social, recreational and learning activities. Our aim is to provide a safe place where everyone is empowered through life-long learning, well-being and connection with others.
The YERP Tutor/Teacher will work in collaboration with the Youth Programs Coordinator, Youth Workers and Tutors to deliver the ReFresh and ReNew Program. The ReFresh and ReNew Program at The Avenue Neighbourhood House @ Eley is a transformative initiative designed to support and uplift young people, schools and families within our community. The educational engagement, or reengagement, program focuses on providing holistic support to young people to ensure they have access to the most appropriate educational environment for them.
ReFresh is an alternative education program for young people aged 15 – 17 who are at risk or already disengaging from education. The aim of the program is to provide education in an alternative setting, that is focused on encouraging students to remain engaged in their schooling by creating learning opportunities that are practical and relevant. ReNew’s primary focus is on reengaging young people who have disengaged from mainstream education settings. Students from both programs are supported in the classroom by Educators and Youth Workers who are focused on well-being and education, in tandem, to contribute to overall engagement in schooling.
