We’re looking for an Intensive Care Specialist Mentor who can live and volunteer for 6 months in the Solomons.
You will be working alongside the hospital team to improve the care in the High Dependency unit.
As a volunteer, you will help identify gaps in the current model of care and work with the team to ensure a local contextualised critical care system is being implemented and utilised successfully.
To be considered for this role, you’ll need to ideally be a Fellow of the College of Intensive Care Medicine.
The National Referral Hospital (NRH), based in Honiara, is operated by the Solomon Islands Ministry of Health and serves the health of Solomon Islanders by functioning as the main tertiary and referral hospital for people living across the country.

The NRH also provides laboratory, pathology, radiology and pharmacy services to support the clinical areas. Currently there is no cohesive model of care or clinical practice guidelines for the unit which the staff are trained or experienced in. Capacity building by a volunteer to improve skills and knowledge as well practices and processes would be valued.
