About the Role:

This position provides Assessment and intervention to newly established Kinship Care placements expected to last longer than three months. The position works under the Kinship Model of care and focuses on placement preservation through the provision of assessments and interventions with children and carers who present with a wide range if complex issues.

A key focus of the role is to work in partnership with Child Protection and other support services, as well as children, young people, carers and birth families to provide a holistic trauma informed service using the Best Interests Case Practice Framework.

Duties, Skills and Experience:

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or equivalent
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understand of Child, Youth and Family Services Act including the Looking after Children Framework, Best Interest Planning Principles, Trauma and Attachment Frameworks and demonstrated knowledge of apply permanency planning principles.
  • Demonstrated evidence informed family assessment skills in working with vulnerable children, families and carers with complex needs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the complexity of the child protection, flexible funding interventions, out of home care and the family support systems and the issues involved in providing services to statutory clients
  • Ability to undertake client centred therapeutic assessments and develop a therapeutic goal plan in partnership with the client that reflects the individual needs of the client.
  • Confident communication skills, in written and verbal English, highly impactful influencing, negotiation, persuasion and problem-solving skills.
