POSITION SUMMARY

The Being Herd program at batyr trains and supports young people to build the skills and confidence to share lived experiences of mental ill-health and their journey reaching out for support. The Lived Experience Development Coordinator works collaboratively with young people to develop safe, structured and impactful narratives that can be shared within batyr’s programs and other stigma reduction and preventative mental health activities. The role also supports the participation and engagement of young people throughout the various stages of the Being Herd Program and across the organisation more broadly.

The Lived Experience Development Coordinator will be primarily responsible for coordinating Lived Experience development, support and engagement activities nationally. The role will also support the quality management, strategy and innovation of the Being Herd program nationally. The Lived Experience Development Coordinator will also have a focus on supporting the additional activities within the Being Herd program as required.

The Lived Experience Development Coordinator will report directly to the Being Herd Program Manager based in Sydney.

All candidates will need to hold a current Working with Children Check and Police Check, or be willing to obtain these within one (1) month of starting the role. At the point of making an offer, we will also request information in regards to your COVID-19 vaccination status in accordance with both our policies and those of our partner schools and universities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess suitability of young people to become batyr speakers and advocates
  • Induct, engage with and support speakers and advocates on an ongoing basis
  • Ensure the quality of impactful story content and delivery is maintained according to batyr’s values, story safety and internal processes
  • Support the training and development of speakers and advocates nationally
  • Support with the coordination of lived experience support and engagement activities nationally
  • Coordinate additional activities that support the Being Herd program Nationally as required
  • Work alongside the Being Herd Program Manager, Being Herd and Programs team to set, track and meet operational and strategic targets
  • Assist the Being Herd Program Manager and the Being Herd team with ad-hoc tasks that arise
