Ahpra’s overall purpose is to work in partnership with 15 Health profession boards: protecting the public by regulating Australia’s 900k health practitioners. As the National scheme is fully funded by practitioner fees, it is vital that the Finance & Risk directorate provide timely, expert financial and risk advice and services, that are relied upon to add strategic value.  

The Director - Financial Reporting and Analysis leads a team of finance professionals, partnering with business clients to ensure efficient, effective, and economic operations and financial plans. Reporting to the National Director Finance, this role is relied upon for overseeing and continuous improvement of National scheme budgeting, project accounting, forecasting, and reporting. 

This role will drive enhanced stakeholder management for the finance team as well as:

  • Grow strong trusting relationships and a culture of open communication with Executive Directors, National Directors, National Boards, and as a member of the Finance & Risk Senior leadership team. 
  • Provide authoritative advice for business planning, project investment, and fee setting. Have oversight of the budget and forecasting process for 15 National Boards and Ahpra Directorates, and work closely with Financial control and Strategic finance leaders. 
  • Facilitate strong corporate governance of financial sustainability, through reporting and communication suitable for the Ahpra Board.   
  • Design and implement insightful advice, reports, dashboards, and presentations, optimising Ahpra’s new Financial tool (Anaplan) to improve monitoring capabilities and influence important decisions.
  • Lead a team of nine professionals (Melbourne/Brisbane), providing clarity, support, and development to inspire individuals’ curiosity and further grow the team’s high performance.
  • Advising senior management on business case investments, including financial analysis and benefits for project expenditure, capital investment and other improvement initiatives to meet agreed goals. 

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting with CPA/CA qualification or similar 
  • Extensive experience as a strong and collaborative leader with demonstrated success in developing high performing teams and delivering outstanding insights and results. 
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing management reporting including implementing strategic financial planning including rolling forecasting and fully automated budgeting in a complex organisation. 
  • Demonstrated experience advising Boards and Committees to help meet Corporate governance obligations. 
  • Exceptional analytical capability with curiosity and insight that translates into meaningful reports and dashboards.
