The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.

Reporting to the Senior Regulatory Advisor, you and your team will ensure that health practitioners, particularly Internationally qualified nurses and midwives (IQNM) are registered in line with the Regulatory Principles for the National Scheme, the National Law, registration standards, and guidelines.

In this role you will be accountable for:   

  • Inspiring and motivating others by providing support and leadership to a team of Regulatory Officers to finalise applications for registration and portfolios with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and customer service.   
  • Drive accountability and throughput of applications and provide regular advice to Senior Leaders of activities, roadblocks and suggested improvements.  
  • Evaluation performance indicators for all positions within the team.   
  • Provide advice and contribute to the identification of issues within legislation, policy, procedures, practices and processes.   

As the ideal candidate, you will demonstrate the following:   

  • Advanced organisational and communication skills dealing with a wide range of stakeholders.  
  • Demonstrated leadership experience including individual and team performance management and recruitment.   
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team to manage complex and high-volume applications.  
  • Advanced risk identification and management skills and experience.  
  • Proven ability to create and maintain positive team culture.
