About the role

As a First Nations Program Facilitator you will facilitate high-quality educational and engagement experiences and programming to groups in school, at 3Bridges sites, and in outreach locations. You will ensure that pre, during, and post programming is a smooth experience, problem solving when challenges arise and thinking of your feet to tailor content to your audience. As part of the Youth and Family team, you will work within the Early Intervention framework to focus on positive and pro-social engagement, education and experiences for children, young people, families, and community members from a diverse range of backgrounds.

Applicants for this position must be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, identify as being Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, and be accepted in the community as such. Program Facilitation

  • Deliver program content and activities in an engaging, positive, and flexible manner that encourages group participation and cohesion.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment for participants, encouraging active participation and feedback
  • Participate in a culture of continuous learning, providing and receiving constructive feedback regarding program facilitation

Program Coordination Support

  • Assist to develop program content, schedules, and materials to meet the needs and goals of the organisation and participants.
  • Set up and pack down programs, ensuring care for resources during and outside of the program
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with stakeholders, including participants, staff, and external partners, as needed

Evaluation

  • Track program progress, collect data, and evaluate outcomes to measure success and identify areas for improvement.

Support to prepare and present reports on program activities, outcomes, and recommendations for future improvements.

About You

  • Minimum Qualification Certificate IV in Youth Work or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline e.g. Youth Work, Social Work, Psychology etc. highly desirable; working towards considered based on experience.
  • Minimum 1 year experience facilitating targeted programs and with strength in managing complex needs.
  • Lived experience as a part of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • In-depth understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, knowledge, protocols and education.
  • Ability to connect with people across a broad age range.
  • Knowledge of program facilitation best practice.
  • Skills in managing group dynamics and redirecting behaviour.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written and verbal formats, to a range of people from different ages and backgrounds.
  • Knowledge and practical application of trauma-informed principles, TEI framework and strengths-based practices.
  • Strong understanding and ability to work alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from multicultural communities, LGBTQIA+ communities, people with a disability and people with a lived experience of mental ill-health.
