About the role

An amazing opportunity for an experienced, motivated, and energetic Recreational Activity Officer (RAO) to join our Dementia Day Respite Centre , the Betty Sussman Centre to facilitate leisure and recreational activities to enhance the wellbeing of our clients.

As the RAO you are responsible for motivating clients towards emotional and physical rehabilitation through recreational and craft activities that promote psychological, social and physical wellbeing. You also will work collaboratively with the care service employees in maintaining skill level, independence and mobility of individual clients. Furthermore, you are also responsible for role modelling BCAC’s values and the behaviours that create a high performing, highly engaged team. This includes creating a positive and professional work environment for clients, families, employees, doctors and allied health professionals.

Skills you’ll need to succeed

• Certificate III in Leisure and Lifestyle
• Minimum of 3-year experience in a similar role is needed to perform this role successfully
• Current and full NSW driver's licence
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Self-disciplined and manages competing priorities
• Demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy
• Experience in designing and providing socialisation and recreational activities
• Self-motivated person with high levels of initiative and ability to work autonomously.
• Maintains a high level of productivity and approaches tasks in an efficient and effective manner
• Demonstrates openness and the ability to learn new skills, accept feedback and improve self
