The Role – General Manager

Reporting to the Director and College Board, the General Manager will be a leader in a dynamic, community-based organisation.

Experienced in senior business management, finance and HR, the General Manager is head of daily staffing and operations.

The General Manager will ensure successful financial and human resource management, manage risk and regulation, plan for future development, and ensure the ongoing sustainability of all assets and general programs at Byron Region Community College (BRCC).

The position will be based on campus, with flexible work from home days.

As General Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Management of planning and funding for the development, growth, and ongoing viability of the college
  • Drive a culture that is committed to fostering the professional and personal growth of adult students
  • Development and monitoring of college budgets
  • Ensure the highest standards of quality, compliance and regulatory requirements are met
  • Establishing and retaining the relationships between stakeholder partnerships, local industry and community organisations, education providers, and government departments
  • Manage teams in finance, frontline administration staff, VET, course development
  • Be involved in, and a member of the Sourdough Business Pathways Sub-Committee, Adult Learning Australia, and Community Colleges Australia

  • Ability to understand key financial metrics which impact outcomes
  • Understanding of Student Services and legislation
  • Ability to develop quality systems
  • Knowledge of workplace safety, and security
  • Grant and tender submission, report writing
  • Experience in relating to industry, peak bodies, and 3 levels of government (NFP desirable)
