The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is Australia's leading not-for-profit organisation funding world-class breast cancer research towards their vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.

Since its inception in 1994, NBCF has invested over $200M into more than 600 world-class research projects across Australia. In this time, death rates from breast cancer in Australia have improved by over 40%.

The Role - General Manager of Philanthropy and Partnerships

NBCF is solely funded by community donations from individuals and organisations. They have launched a bold and transformational research strategy and the creation of this new role will play a crucial role in driving the team forward to build the funding capacity to achieve this.

The General Manager of Philanthropy and Partnerships reports to the Director of Fundraising and Development and is responsible for the overall strategy and management of the philanthropy and corporate partnerships portfolio.

With a team of twelve people including four direct reports, this strategic role will manage key relationships and work closely with the team to increase revenue from major donors, corporate partners, trusts and foundations.

Working with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team and key members of the Board, you will use your strategic thinking, natural relationship building skills and deep knowledge of the philanthropic landscape and ESG principles to identify and secure transformational gifts and strategic partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and develop a high-performing team
  • Build strong effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop and implement the philanthropy and partnerships fundraising strategy
  • Risk management of corporate engagements through the development of ethical guidelines
  • Work with the team members to develop KPIs to achieve financial targets and other key objectives
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a recognition program and benefits for major supporters
  • Lead the development and implementation of a 'moves management' framework
  • Oversee the planning of key major donor and partner events
  • Collaborate across the organisation to maximise fundraising opportunities

Your Skills & Attributes

  • Considerable leadership experience with a high degree of emotional intelligence and empathy
  • A strategic, entrepreneurial and creative thinker
  • Extensive experience in leading major donor and corporate partnership programs in an NFP or University setting
  • An outstanding relationship builder with the ability to influence
  • Demonstrated success in building and managing high-performance teams
  • Experience in change management, team performance planning and developing growth strategies
  • Proven track record of securing transformational gifts and innovative, strategic partnerships
  • Deep understanding of the philanthropic landscape and ESG principles
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in budgeting, forecasting, internal and external reporting
