About our client

MATES in Construction Australia are an established charity who provide suicide prevention through community development programs on site, and by supporting workers in need through case management and a 24/7 help line. MATES vision is to be Australia’s leading industry suicide prevention organisation focusing on raising awareness, building capacity, providing help and research.

Role responsibilities

You will report into the Manager Program and Operations in this exciting role, and your focus will be on industry engagement and the project management of the Blueprint.

The five pillars of the Blueprint create a comprehensive framework for strong workplace mental health and suicide prevention. The Blueprint Framework represents a rare, progressive, and comprehensive approach to mental health awareness and suicide prevention that transcends best-practice. Although it is strongly grounded in theory, evidence, and experience, it is also leading the way in breaking down organisational and occupational barriers that typically impede efforts to improve employee mental health by embracing a future- focused, dynamic, and industry-wide approach.

  • Create and drive a strategy to raise awareness and engagement with the Blueprint across organisations and key stakeholders, stewarding relationships with those organisations – as well as managing relationships with research and funding bodies.
  • As needed, present on the Blueprint and related research to internal/external stakeholders, in the interest of expanding the reach of the Blueprint and its supporting tools.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and liaise with researchers to implement Blueprint monitoring and evaluation processes, and other policies and procedures.
  • Educate internally and support MATES organisation and staff in promoting and supporting organisations to implement the Blueprint and associated tools.
  • Provide analysis and reporting (ensuring timely reporting on priority activities and risk items) on the Blueprint outcomes, maintaining a continuous improvement mindset and implementing efficiencies where appropriate.
  • Planning, coordination, and execution of Blueprint projects in accordance with agreed project management frameworks and procedures.
  • Some travel will be involved in the interest of engagement with geographically dispersed stakeholders.

Essential Requirements

You will be a passionate advocate for the Blueprint, and be a confident and articulate ambassador across a wide variety of stakeholders and audiences.

  • Relevant tertiary or other suitable training and qualifications in business development, program development and implementation, or similar.
  • Robust experience and proven successes in a similar role managing the roll out of national programs or projects and engaging with organisations in adopting new workplace practises.
  • Confident communication and presentation skills across a diverse range of stakeholders – from internal stakeholders to external stakeholders such as affiliated researchers and industry organisations and individuals.
  • Understanding of rigor and pragmatism in translating research findings into the operational and practical applications to support continuous improvement.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and similar tools, with advanced skills in developing communication and industry engagement resources.
  • Strong project management and time management skills, with an ability to meet deadlines across competing priorities.
  • The successful candidate will need a full driver’s license and be able to complete a satisfactory Police Check.
