The Opportunity

The Assistant Director Child Youth & Families, working closely with the Regional Director and Assistant Director Out of Home Care, will provide coaching, leadership and guidance to a large team spread across South East Victoria. This position has responsibility for ensuring that a high-quality service is delivered to children, young people and families accessing services across a diverse range of programs in a large geographical region. This role will be responsible for connecting with local community groups and services and maximising opportunities for service development. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that Berry Street continues to be recognised as a strong and innovative child and family services agency in the region and sector.
  • Ensure the provision of a range of high-quality responsive services through appropriate policy and program development, supervision, support, professional development and staff feedback systems.
  • Seek and enhance the opportunities for policy and service across the region.
  • Ensure quality improvements and compliance standards are adhered to and elevated for programs and staff.

About You

  • Extensive experience in leadership in the child and family services field, including experience with statutory/non-statutory clients; a sophisticated understanding of contemporary issues facing the sector and awareness of future directions. 
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to a senior leadership team in a collegiate, effective and strategic manner. 
  • Demonstrated capacity and proven experience in program management including direct oversight of a number of diverse sub-programs including non-statutory programs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Values that underpin the organisation and its culture with capacity to lead and promote these throughout the region.
  • Highly developed analytical and conceptual skills with the ability to plan, review and implement quality improvements.
  • Proven success at coaching and supporting effective teams for success.
