Better Together employ a range of highly skilled staff across a broad range of areas including social work, community development, aged care services, psychology and counselling. The Role

As a member of the Psychological Services Team, you will work under the general direction of the Coordinator, Psychological Services Team, to undertake a range of functions requiring the application of psychological knowledge and skills to achieve results in accordance with Better Togethers’ objectives and specific program goals. This position is Full time or part time upon negotiation, with a flexible working arrangement.

  • Adhere to established work practices, exercise initiative and judgment where practices and direction are not clearly defined, in a way that will meet program and Better Together goals.
  • Support the establishment of Better Together programs and procedures across a diverse range of programs or functions under supervision.
  • Deliver projects and/or functions which achieve Better Together and program goals.
  • Maintain professional case notes, prepare reports and provide expert advice to Better Together staff as required, in accordance with organisational need.
  • Prioritise and monitor workflows within your area of responsibility, including the achievement of program and Better Together performance indicators.
  • Utilise the most appropriate operational methods within Better Togethers’ guidelines and gain cooperation of your colleagues.

Responsibilities

To contribute to the operational objectives of the Psychological Services Team, the role will:

  • Provide evidence-based clinical interventions to diverse cohorts including children and adolescents.
  • Maintain record keeping practices in line with ethical, legislative and organisational expectations.
  • Actively contribute to and participate in internal quality improvement initiatives and clinical support practices.
  • Maintain professional registration and adhere to ethical, legislative and organisational requirements.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of moderately complex projects under the direction of management.
  • Set priorities and monitor workflow within your areas of responsibility and delegation.
  • Utilise Better Togethers’ systems to enable the provision of advice reports, records and assistance.
  • Monitor and interpret legislation, regulations and other agreements pertaining to programs.
  • Carry out planning, studies or research for particular projects including aspects of design, formulation of policy, implementation of procedures and presentation.
  • Provide reports on progress of program activities including recommendations.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Qualifications:

  • Psychologist- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology and current registration or eligibility for registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency (AHPRA).

or

  • Social Worker- Qualifications in Social work with relevant experience.

Additional:

  • Current Driver’s License.
  • Current ‘Working with Children Check - Blue Card”, or ability to obtain.
  • Police Check, or ability to obtain.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of contemporary principles and practices in psychology, including psychometric testing, assessments, and intervention specific to individual needs.
  • Willingness to develop a comprehensive knowledge of organisation policies, procedures, practices and contract requirements with an appreciation of the long-term goals of the organisation and a detailed knowledge of program activities and work practices relevant to the work area.
  • Skills in negotiating outcomes and the ability to prioritise activities according to Better Together objectives as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, while exercising professional judgment within prescribed areas.

DEMONSTARTED EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Managing priorities and performance in a professional multi-functional team.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including experience utilising office software, client information systems, and databases.
  • Engaging a high level of interpersonal skills in dealing with the public and other organisations, including children, young people or adults who present with a range of complex behavioural needs.

Highly desirable additional experience:

  • Proven ability to lead, engage and motivate service users through change.
  • Proven ability to identify, manage and mitigate risks within a clinical setting.

This position is Full time or part time upon negotiation, with a flexible working arrangement. Pay scale is guided by the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 Award, Level 4, ($43.08 - $46.35 per hour) or Level 5,($49.28 -$51.51 per hour) dependent on qualifications and experience.
