About the role and you:

Reporting to the Deputy CEO, as part of the broader Services and Service Innovations Group, the successful candidate will possess the skills and knowledge to operationalise the strategic vision to evolve current service delivery models, the majority of which are delivered through partner organisations. You will work collaboratively within a team responsible for the development of innovative and evidence-based programs, accessible by the community via a range of modalities. Your leadership and managerial experience will demonstrate your ability to develop and implement a strategy that incorporates Beyond Blue’s NewAccess Program, 24-hour Support Line and Community Forums. You will possess a high degree of business acumen and sophisticated interpersonal and analytical skills. You will embody the Beyond Blue ethos of being an organisation that has a business head and community heart.

The Head of Community Support Services is offered on a full-time, fixed term, 2-year contract.

Accountabilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading a team of managers and their respective broader teams to deliver:
    • The 24-Hour Support Line (the Beyond Blue Support Service)
    • The Online Forums
    • The NewAccess program
    • Social media moderation functions
  • Leading the strategy development and integration of the above services to ensure effective evolution of Beyond Blue services in order they continually meet the needs of the community
  • The development, implementation and monitoring of annual project management plans for each service area including budgets, resource management, key performance indicators and regular reporting
  • Ensuring effective stakeholder relationship management with a broad range of stakeholders including community members, Primary Health Networks, contracted service providers (eg Medibank Health Solutions – provider of the Support Service)
  • Active involvement and oversight of service procurement, ensuring compliance
  • Contributing to and participating in broader organisation strategic planning, policy development and advocacy activities
  • Management and coordination of Beyond Blue’s Clinical Governance Committee

The successful candidate will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in a health-related field (preferably mental health) is essential
  • A qualification/s in Business Management and/or Project Management is desirable
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior leadership role in community/health/mental health
  • Knowledge, skills and experience that are pertinent to agile project management including planning, budgeting, resourcing, metrics, analytics, targeting and reporting deliverables against defined objectives and outcomes
  • A leadership and management style that reflects a natural ability to inspire and motivate others
  • The ability to consider and analyse a range of clinical information relevant to Beyond Blue’s service delivery models
  • Proven experience in managing large strategic, cross-sector partnerships and service focused programs
  • Innovative and highly-developed; interpersonal skills, complex practice review and change management skills
