ABOUT BLAKDANCE

BlakDance is the national industry and producing organisation for First Nations contemporary dancers and choreographers. BlakDance produces First Nations independent choreographers and dance artists, cultivates emerging First Nations contemporary dance companies and leads national and international engagement with the arts and cultural sector to support a strong, sustainable First Nations contemporary dance sector.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Administration & Communications Coordinator works in close collaboration with the Operations Manager to provide administrative and project support to the wider BlakDance team. The role also encompasses the coordination and maintenance of BlakDance’s digital communications and content publishing schedule.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Uphold BlakDance First Nations cultural governance, frameworks and policies, including Cultural Protocols and administration of Indigenous Cultural Intellectual Property (ICIP) on programs and projects
  • Provide support to the Operations Manager for the effective management of day-to-day office administration, systems and equipment
  • Coordinate meetings (diary management, scheduling, stakeholder communication, setting up online meetings)
  • Coordinate travel and accommodation
  • Support financial management, such as invoicing and expense acquittals
  • Provide administrative support for events (manage invitations, registrations, venue coordination, vendor liaison)
  • Be the administrative backbone of our team collaboration methods, such as updating project databases and internal comms (e.g. Slack, Asana), taking and distributing meeting minutes
  • Support grant management, such as gathering data and content for reports, coordinating feedback surveys and collating support materials
  • Provide assistance in the preparation of reports and evaluation of program outcomes to stakeholders
  • Coordinate communications processes across the team, including:
    • Social media content creation, scheduling and moderation
    • Coordinating the E-News publishing schedule, actioning EDM campaigns as required
    • Liaising with staff, partners and artists to gather content
    • Coordinating publishing approval workflows and adherence to communication and branding guidelines

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential:

  • Cultural capability and understanding of working with First Nations people, organisations, colleagues and communities
  • Demonstrated experience and performance in a similar role
  • Demonstrated high-level organisation skills and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to determine and manage priorities, diagnose potential issues quickly and take the initiative to address them
  • High-level interpersonal skills and the ability to work positively and effectively within a team
  • Strong computer literacy skills, including ability to administer social media channels and digital communications, such as email newsletters

Highly desirable

  • Experience in governance and administration of grants and public funding agreements
  • Experience in the nonprofit and/or performing arts sector
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign

Interview process
