While this job has a limited range of Ballarat and Central Highlands, our meetings are virtual and we encourage people from all over Victoria to apply.
Blue Bow Tie is a charity registered with the ACNC (Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission) which aims to support and bring public awareness to the plight of male victims of domestic and family violence and abuse. The ultimate aim is to be able to build/provide a shelter for these men to give them a safe place to rebuild their lives.
BBTL has applied for DGR (Deductible Gift Recipients) status which will allow the charity several much needed tax concessions.
To support our development and expansion, we are seeking community-minded and skilled individuals who are passionate about raising awareness of, and offering support to, this often-overlooked demographic.
The Board of Directors is responsible for the development of BBTL’s strategy, policies and procedures, supporting the organisation to achieve its purpose, and governing the overall reputation, risk and financial management of the organisation. It is responsible for BBTL’s overall performance and compliance, providing strategic direction, effective governance, and leadership on behalf of our stakeholders.
We have a small, but passionate group of people already involved, but feel a more diverse group would offer a more broad idea base.
However, we aren’t looking for your typical Board member. We are looking for people who can openly and passionately support the core foundation of BBTL but are also keen to roll up their sleeves and jump right in, putting their actions where their mouths are.
Raising awareness and offering support is at the forefront of everything we do. There is no better feeling than helping to create an inclusive space that has a life-altering impact on male victims of domestic abuse, letting them know they are not forgotten or ignore, but remain a valued member of the community.
The role includes, but is not limited to:
You are someone who is passionate about advancing the visibility of male victims of domestic abuse around regional Victoria, and beyond. You are someone who has the time and passion to dedicate to BBTL during this critical phase of its growth and are seeking meaningful ways to contribute support and increase awareness in our society.
You may also be someone with the following skills and attributes:
Past and current survivors and/or their families are encouraged to apply.

The decision for Board Members will be made by the beginning of February and you will be notified before 15 February 2025, in time to join our February meeting being held on the third Thursday (20 February 2025) at 7.00pm via Zoom – link supplied.
Our AGM is held in March each year.
Thank you for your interest in our charity, and we look forward to bringing awareness to this forgotten and overlooked demographic.
