Established in 1981, Blue Mountains Food Co-op is one of Australia’s largest community owned, not-for-profit food co-operatives with a focus on organic, local food and eco-friendly products.
We are looking for a suitably skilled applicant to join our dedicated team and help with the day-to-day administration and financial management of the Co-op. This is a full time role (37.5 hours) with some flexibility negotiable on weekly hours.
Key responsibilities
- Overseeing all administrative and financial requirements of the Co-op
- Managing the Co-op’s bookkeeping functions, banking, and payroll
- Overseeing the yearly audit
- Preparing budgets
- Completing BAS and superannuation lodgements
- Providing administrative support to the Board of Directors
- Maintaining policies and procedures
- Ensuring the Co-op meets regulatory and legal requirements
The successful candidate will have a blend of financial, technical, administrative, and management skills, and a passion for working in a co-operative environment.
Selection Criteria
Essential
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency with MYOB (or equivalent accounting software), Microsoft Office, and Point of Sales software.
- Current Bookkeeping, Accounting or other relevant qualification or experience.
- Experience in administration.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Self-directed, highly motivated, and reliable.
- Outstanding organisational and problem-solving skills plus ability to effectively prioritize.
- Strong analytical and numeracy skills.
- Strong written and personal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to the mission, aims and values of the Blue Mountains Food Cooperative.
Desirable
- Experience working in community organisations and with volunteer Boards.
- Understanding of the cooperative business model.
- Interest in whole/organic food.
