Brave Mentors are based around Australia and operate online delivering our virtual program to teens parents who are isolated by geography or circumstance.

The Social Economic Empowerment Department (SEED) is powered by Brave Foundation, its learnings and experience. SEED is the pioneering and innovative division of Brave.

SEED has the bold aim of creating a pre-social services sector that ultimately see’s Australia lead the world in social economic empowerment for our citizens, through systemic change.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The primary purpose of this role is to manage internal and external communication for all aspects of Brave Foundation’s work. This includes communication related to the delivery of our core program and our Social Economic Empowerment Department (SEED).

You will be an experienced communicator who understands that strong communication relies on understanding the needs of different audiences and stakeholders, and that effective interactions are integral to achieving engagement and impact.

You are someone that thrives in a hands-on role and enjoys working in collaborative environments. You are quick to ‘join the dots’ and identify opportunities to create understanding through clear engagement using a variety of media and channels.

This role will be a full-time role (negotiable) from our Melbourne or Hobart offices. It may also be performed remotely. Brave is open to and supports flexible working arrangements.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES

  • Establish and maintain an effective and respectful system of communication with all staff and stakeholders, including participants and partners
  • Develop communication strategies and collateral to support and promote Brave Foundation and SEED activities, ensuring clear and consistent alignment with respective brands
  • Ensure Brave is actively promoting the insights and stories of those with lived experience
  • Develop and maintain relationships with communications colleagues in stakeholder organisations and media
  • Manage social media accounts and liaise with stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Develop and distribute media releases
  • Establish a process for monitoring and distributing relevant news to Brave Leadership team
  • Establish, manage and promote internal communications platforms and tools
  • Manage service level agreement with communication support providers on behalf of Brave
  • Support colleagues in the production of reports for external stakeholders

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA - TO BE ADDRESSED IN COVER LETTER

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a communications advisor
  • Exemplary communication skills, both verbal and written with experience in developing and delivering key messaging
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering enterprise level communication programs
  • Demonstrated experience developing a proven social media strategy and managing organisational social media platforms
  • Ability to work co-operatively and effectively within the team and organisation
  • Experienced in developing and maintaining strong network of media and communication colleagues
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
