ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a dynamic and creative Social Media Manager to oversee and elevate the social media presence of both the Brain Foundation and its division Migraine & Headache Australia. You will manage our Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn accounts, creating engaging content that raises awareness of our work, adds value and drives meaningful engagement with our communities.

You’ll be responsible for developing creative content ideas, writing compelling copy, and producing visual content - primarily images and, ideally, videos - to help tell our story. We are looking for someone who can think outside the box, bring fresh ideas to the table, and take ownership of our social media strategy.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented social media professional who is ready to use their skills to make a difference in the world of medical research and patient advocacy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, schedule, and manage engaging posts that align with our mission and brand messaging, including content ideas for key awareness days and campaigns.
  • Write compelling, on-brand copy tailored to each platform to drive engagement and conversions.
  • Design and edit visually appealing content using Canva Pro (images, infographics, etc.) and work towards developing video content to diversify our media strategy.
  • Monitor social media accounts, engage with our community, and respond to comments and messages in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with our team to align social media efforts with broader organisational goals and campaigns.
  • Track social media performance, analyse metrics, and create reports to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Develop subject matter expertise in brain, migraine, and neurological health with the support of our team so that our social media channels become a go-to destination for news, research updates, practical tips and useful information.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in social media and apply this knowledge to continuously enhance our content.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: Proven experience as a Social Media Manager or in a similar role, managing multiple social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).
  • Creativity: Ability to develop and execute creative content ideas that resonate with our target audience, with a keen eye for visual aesthetics and copywriting.
  • Copywriting: Strong writing skills with experience crafting clear, engaging, and on-brand copy.
  • Content Creation: Proficiency in Canva Pro for creating and editing visual content; basic video editing skills are a bonus (or the willingness to develop them).
  • Organisational Skills: Proactive and organised, able to plan and schedule content in advance, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Collaboration: A team player who enjoys working in a collaborative environment, sharing ideas, and supporting colleagues.
  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to interpret social media analytics and translate them into actionable improvements.
  • Passion for the Cause: Interest in medical research, brain health, or related fields is highly desirable.

Please note that we are unable to provide visa sponsorship, all applicants must be eligible to work in Australia.
