Your Purpose

The Senior Corporate Counsel supports the General Counsel and Company Secretary to provide strategic and commercial legal advice to the Board, CEO and Executive team and broader business to enable and support Bridge Housing achieve its strategic objectives.

Role Outcomes

  1. Providing general legal advice, participating in negotiations, drafting agreements and helping to instruct and manage external counsel in relation to:
    • Full cycle property development (acting as developer);
    • Design and construction (as principal);
    • Transaction structuring for governance, risk, finance and tax requirements;
    • Financial investment including facility agreements and asset finance;
    • Security arrangements with stakeholders;
    • Property acquisitions;
    • A variety of consultancy and services agreements; and
    • Planning matters (as landowner);
  2. Providing timely content input and reviews into tender responses and other support for new business;
  3. Providing general legal advice in diverse housing, asset and privacy matters to support operational teams including leasing from government, real estate agency law, real property titling and policy development; and
  4. Supporting the business in legal advocacy.

Who are we looking for?

Essential criteria:

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a Bachelor of Laws, with 6-10 years of post-qualification experience in development, construction and finance transactions.
  • Has demonstrated experience on a secondment or in-house as well as in a law firm.
  • Has a strong understanding of property and commercial law with relevant experience in development, construction and finance transactions.
  • Has familiarity with leasing and property acquisition.
  • Upholds Bridge’s values and be motivated to help Bridge grow and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Is highly motivated and hard working, with good project management skills and an ability to meet deadlines;
  • Has strong attention to detail; and
  • Is willing to work with the business closely, have a hands-on approach, be able to multi task and work autonomously.
