The Guild coordinates social events and activities, supports student clubs, operates food and beverage outlets on campus and assist students holistically.

Role Overview:

Seeking a considered and contemporary leader, this role will partner and collaborate with the Guild President (a student elected role which changes annually) and will be pivotal in steering the organisation through its next phase of positive change. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in leading teams, successfully engaging a wide variety of stakeholders, and adept at converting strategic initiatives into operational success without losing the core culture that defines Curtin Guild.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Drive performance, manage excellence, and support the team to achieve outcomes. Ensure targets in the business plan are met through effective team leadership and weekly stand-up meetings.
  • Operational Improvement: Step in to drive larger operational improvements in collaboration with the team, ensuring projects are completed efficiently before stepping out to allow the team to handle day-to-day tasks.
  • Effective Communication: Ensure effective communication in the workplace including with members and between staff and student leaders.
  • Governance and Compliance: Develop and maintain up-to-date policies and procedures that meet statutory and university requirements. Oversee risk management, safety, and internal governance mechanisms.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and foster relationships within the Guild and the University, representing the Guild on relevant committees and in public forums.
  • Team Development: Lead and mentor a management team, fostering a proactive, service-driven culture with high staff satisfaction and retention.
  • Strategic and Operational Planning: Drive strategic and operational planning, ensuring alignment with the Guild's mission and goals. Monitor key business metrics and ensure timely production and monitoring.

Your proven track record at a senior management level in a medium-sized company / division, combined with an ability to provide strong financial control will place you in an excellent position to be considered for this role. We require both a strategic planner, a problem-solver and someone who is completely comfortable with risk management and governance. Most of all, you will be working with student leaders, so embracing what they can bring to the Guild is paramount.

Whilst not essential, some experience in the community services sector, a public authority or higher education sector will further strengthen your application.

Curtin Student Guild offers a competitive remuneration package and a supportive work environment on a beautiful campus. This is a unique opportunity to lead a passionate team and make a significant impact on the student experience at Curtin University.
