Join our team and feel valued with a supportive culture and well-being days dedicated to you
We are currently looking for an Intake Worker to join our headspace Hamilton team. You will play a pivotal role in supporting young people aged 12-25 on their journey to better health and well-being. As the first point of contact for many, you’ll engage, screen, assess, and refer young people, coordinating their care across the four key service areas that headspace provides: mental health, physical and sexual health, alcohol and other drugs, and vocational and educational support. Your approach will help to establish a positive experience, facilitating early help-seeking and seamless access to essential intervention services.
This role requires someone who can skillfully assess each young person’s unique needs, conduct risk assessments, and develop effective action plans for any identified risks. You’ll work closely with the clinical team, participate in regular supervision, and contribute to case discussions, making sound decisions even in high-stress situations. The Intake Worker will also provide interim support for those awaiting further interventions, ensuring continuous care and support for all.
In addition to direct client work, you’ll be actively involved in community outreach, mental health literacy, and youth engagement activities.
This position calls for a dedicated professional who understands the frameworks and legislation relevant to supporting young people, is committed to ongoing professional development, and can build strong partnerships within the community.
If you are ready to make a real difference in young people’s lives by helping them access vital health and well-being services, we’d love to hear from you.
Brophy Family & Youth Services has supported children, young people, families, and the southwest Victorian community for almost 50 years. We live here; this is our community; we believe in people and in their ability to create the life they want.
At Brophy, you will join a team of just over 170 employees delivering over 40 programs and services across areas, including youth engagement, mental health, family violence, foster care, housing support, employment support, and disability services.
At Brophy our Vision is not just focused externally on our community – we feel just as passionate about our employees being meaningfully connected through their roles with us to create the life they want, and that as a workforce, we achieve this together through innovation and healthy relationships, and by positively contributing to building an advantaged community.
Brophy’s headspace services are growing across the region – from our Warrnambool services, now in operation for almost 15 years; we also provide a satellite service in Portland and are now working to establish a new headspace centre in Hamilton.
Brophy is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment that ensures safety and a sense of belonging for everyone. We embrace individuals of diverse races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, ages, religions, abilities, and nationalities, recognising the richness that varied experiences bring to our efforts in supporting individuals and building stronger communities.
Our commitment extends to actively listening, learning, and evolving to become an accessible, inclusive, and secure organisation for all, encompassing First Nations peoples, members of the LGBTIQA+ community, individuals with disabilities, and those with culturally diverse backgrounds.
