Our Early Years Mentoring Program will provide you with related training, paid experience as part of our team and learning support that assists your journey to future work and qualifications in Early Childhood. As part of the program, you will be a facilitator in our support playgroups and work with children and their families. You will attend training, mentoring sessions, and learn as part of our Early Years team.

We’re looking for a professional Early Years Support Facilitator (Mentor Program) with relevant experience who wants to join our 2,000+ team of staff and volunteers to make a difference on a casual basis, working up to 6 hours per week based in Fitzroy.

THE ROLE

Our Early Years Mentoring Program will provide you with related training, paid experience as part of our team and learning support that assists your journey to future work and qualifications in Early Childhood.

As part of the program, you will be a facilitator in our support playgroups and work with children and their families. You will also attend training, support, and learn as part of our Early Years team.

  • Work with the Family Learning Support Team in supported playgroups, administration, planning, and team meetings
  • Facilitate the child-minding sessions, including taking care of children between the ages 0-5 while parents are part of a parent only program
  • Assist in providing a safe, stimulating, positive and enjoyable learning environment for children and families

Salary will be $29.26 per hour for casuals plus 25% casual loading.

To be considered for the role and be successful in it, we’re looking for an who has the following key skills and experiences:

  • Interest in childhood development, learning and parenting
  • Good English language skills
  • Good communication skills with the ability to build effective, trusting relationships with children and families from diverse backgrounds
  • Understanding the needs of vulnerable families and children or lived experience
  • Understanding in diverse cultural setting and public housing communities
  • Willingness to be mentored and supported in developing organisational, time management skills, digital (IT) skills and goal setting.
  • Willingness in being mentored into potential further training or employment beyond this this term linking in with various BSL departments.
  • Enjoys working part of a team

DESIRABLE

  • Experience working in a community or early childhood programs
  • Experience working or living with families from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to speak a community language other than English 

MANDATORY EMPLOYMENT CRITERIA

  • proof of eligibility to work in Australia is required
  • a satisfactory Police Check is required. The Brotherhood will facilitate this process
  • a Working with Children Check is required for this position. The Brotherhood will facilitate this process
