Bundjalung Tribal Society was established in 1975 to meet the needs of its Aboriginal community, focussing on low cost rental accommodation. It currently has over 21 rental properties, supporting over 150 people, all based in the Lismore and Ballina shires. BTS also offers; cultural programs and workshops, training and employment and expanding its capacity as an organic farm with the focus on native foods and plants and regenerative the Big Scrub area in the Bundjalung nation.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Community Housing Support Worker

As a Housing Support Worker, your role will be to build the capacity of each client/participant. This will be done via offering outreach, referral, advocacy and support. Other elements of this role is to connect people with their services they need and to create sustainable relationships with local service providers and stakeholders in the community.

The role will also involve creating Advisory Groups, attending workshops and training.

ABOUT YOU

Candidates will be required to have:

  • Sound communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Experience with community and the aspects of social housing.
  • Knowledge of Ballina and Lismore regions.
  • Some experience with running groups, creating workshops and facilitation.
  • Sound organisation and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently

Essential Requirement:

  • Current C class Drivers Licence
  • Current Working With Children Clearance (or willing to obtain)
  • Current National Police Clearance (or willing to obtain)
  • Experience in Community Services and/or Diploma

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS

This role is classified as a Level 4.1 within the Social Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010

Salary is $43.08 per hour + Super + Salary packaging.

Hours: 6 per day, 3 days per week for the term of 12 months.
