Caboolture Community Work Cooperative

Any hospitality heroes here, looking for a quality workplace in Morayfield?

The Caboolture Workers Co-op manages a not-for-profit, social enterprise coffee shop at the Morayfield Health Hub. Working from an inclusive, cooperative spirit, our purpose is to provide meaningful employment opportunities for people with cognitive disabilities.

We work from the principle that meaningful employment is a socially valued role and essential for optimum well-being, self-esteem, and mental health. When people with disabilities are given valued roles like employment, society perceives them in a more positive way and they experience less discrimination, greater opportunities for social inclusion and less financial hardship.

We are seeking a hospitality legend to act as Second-in-Charge and share the responsibility of the daily functions of the coffee shop, and equally importantly, the supervision, motivation, and support of our valued workers, who are people with cognitive disabilities.

You will be a rare gem who is community minded with the heart and patience to bring out the best in our vulnerable workers. You may have experience supporting or working alongside people with disabilities, but it is not compulsory if you see this as your happy place, and you are motivated by overcoming the challenges and reaping the rewards of working within the disability space.

You will be highly organised and able to follow established procedures and contribute to their improvement for the benefit of workflow and the inclusion of our workers with disabilities.

You will be an all-round hospitality person and a confident barista who is committed to maintaining the high standard of coffee and food that our customers have come to expect. You will have the assurance to step into the role of Team Leader and take on the responsibilities of that role at any time.

You will have lots of knowledge and flare to share with our team and contribute to the growing reputation of our enterprise. You will be given the opportunity to demonstrate your entrepreneurial skills.

You will be flexible, unflappable and a person who loves the hospo-buzz and making people happy.

Currently the coffee shop is staffed between 7.30am to 4pm Monday to Friday and closed on weekends and public holidays. As the Health Hub is open 8am-8pm seven days per week, there is capacity to increase these hours with the right people on board.

To start with, the role will be casual and a minimum of 20 hrs per week and will be paid at Restaurant Industry Award Level 3 for a probationary period of 3 months.

If you are the right fit, after 3 months you will be offered a permanent role at level 5 of the Restaurant Industry Award, and because we are a not-for-profit, you will be offered salary packaging which will increase your take-home pay substantially. If you are offered a permanent role, we will be working towards ensuring you get as many hours as you want and need.

All positions at the Co-op are reviewed annually and increased according to performance and we will pay above award to staff who have demonstrated they bring value to our enterprise. There is also room to move up as the Co-op continues to expand and explore other opportunities from where to deliver on its mission to provide meaningful employment for people with disabilities.
