The Barwon & Wimmera South West Children's Resource Program Coordinator role aims to build the capacity of Specialist Homelessness Services and related programs and networks to meet the needs of children experiencing homelessness and family violence.  

It also aims to ensure that children’s needs, experiences and ideas are represented in homelessness service provision, policy development and relevant sector campaigns by participating in the Statewide network.
 
The Statewide Children's Resource Program is funded by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing to assist, support and resource homelessness and other non-government services to respond more effectively to the needs of children who have experienced homelessness and/or family violence.

What’s required:

Essential:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification(s) in Social Work or other related discipline at degree level or above.
  • Knowledge of child development and a strong understanding of issues relating to children experiencing homelessness and/or family violence.
  • An understanding of children’s experiences of trauma; trauma theory and other relevant models of practice
  • Experience in liaison and collaborative work with diverse stakeholder, including government and community organisations.
  • Sound understanding of the principles of service delivery within the Community Services sector and overarching relevant legislation
  • A proven aptitude to relate positively and confidently with people from diverse backgrounds, in a variety of settings
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently as required by different aspects of the role.
  • Ability to work within a team environment and to work independently.
  • Ability to problem solve and develop strategic results.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to produce clear and concise documents and reports.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
  • Current Working with Children’s Check

Desirable:

  • Experience in the use of therapeutic interventions and the delivery of groups/children’s groups.
