We are seeking a passionate clinician with extensive experience in psychological assessments, a demonstrated ability to work effectively with others, and a desire to achieve the best outcomes for clients, staff and students. The Psychology Assessment Clinic Lead forms part of the leadership group within the Cairnmillar clinics, in addition to providing direct clinical support and assessment to a reduced case load as a Senior Psychologist.

The position works in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Services and other stakeholders within Cairnmillar to ensure a high standard of service quality by individual clinicians and students on placement.

In addition to our educational programs, we offer a range of clinical services across our four clinic sites (North Melbourne, Hawthorn East, Dandenong and CBD) as well as remote services.

Staffed by both postgraduate students and registered clinicians, the Psychology Assessment Clinic provides psychological assessments to members of the community in areas such as:

  • ADHD
  • Autism
  • Personality Assessments
  • Vocational Assessments
  • Cognitive and Academic Achievement Assessments.

The role:

As the Psychology Assessment Clinic Lead you will:

  • Provide consultation and involvement with clinicians or students on placement on evidence-based practice and best practice models in clinical assessment.
  • Where required or necessary, contribute to case reviews and case consultations.
  • Be available for consultation regarding any special requests for client assessment needs.
  • Have active involvement in co-ordination, collaboration and review of assessment clinic services including managing assessment resource requests, wait lists and triage.
  • Provide clinical assessments and psychological counselling to a reduced case load as a Senior Psychologist.
  • Scan for opportunities to promote the assessment services to external referrers, thereby maintaining sufficient levels of referrals for assessment services in addition to developing growth opportunities for increasing assessment referrals where needed.
  • Liaise with external agencies to assist in promotion of assessment services and ongoing growth of service.
  • Increase student placement opportunities with an assessment focus within the clinics.

About you:

You will have:

  • A post graduate degree in psychology and extensive training in various assessments (including cognitive, achievement, personality, and vocational, as well as standard clinical measures), including training and experience in administering the ADOS-2.
  • Full registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a minimum 5 years post graduate experience.
  • Demonstrated high level of knowledge, skills and experience in trauma informed practice, psychological, assessment, case formulation, and counselling.
  • An established area of competency in Psychological Assessment and report writing.
  • Board-approved supervisor with AHPRA, or commitment to successful completion of competency-based supervisor training (full training) with a board-approved provider.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
