Solutions for Climate Australia is a program of CANA that focuses on strategies to influence all sides of federal politics to develop stronger policies on climate. Our team includes some of the best campaigners in the country - we think big and we deliver big outcomes for the climate. The project advocates for durable, decisive solutions which address the economic, environmental, security and social impacts of climate change in Australia and our region.
This role is for a campaign strategist and communications practitioner with strong digital skills - someone with a proven track record designing and executing high impact digital marketing and persuasion strategies. The position will play a lead role in elevating support for climate solutions such as renewable energy using a range of brands, platforms and service providers.
This role is ideally suited to someone with a strong understanding of persuasive social media advertising, and countering dis/misinformation. A background understanding of politics and climate communications is important.
Climate Action Network Australia is a flexible workplace with work-from-home and office options and flexible working hours. We would particularly encourage applicants based in Sydney, but other east coast locations possible for the right candidate.
Manage the implementation of three social media strategies across at least five brands on at least three platforms;
Manage one staff member and contracts with service providers including creative and advertising agencies;
Strategise with a broader team of campaign strategists about being influential, powerful and persuasive using communications tools;
Where needed, engage with and commission research into communications and sentiment;
Seek proactive and reactive campaign opportunities.
Remuneration: $110,000 - $140,000 (depending on experience) per annum plus superannuation - full time (1.0 FTE).
12 month contract
Essential:
At least five years experience devising and executing digital strategy.
Exceptional written communication skills, with the right experience to know what messages work for which audiences and an ability to think through complex ideas and to communicate them simply and clearly.
Excellent time management, professional initiative and prioritisation skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at once.
A good understanding of the Australian political landscape.
Sound judgement and excellent strategic and tactical skills.
An interest in climate and environmental policies.
Desirable:
Experience managing staff.
An understanding and previous experience with or within NGOs working on climate change.
