About the role 

The Navigation Program Manager role sits within the Cancer Control Policy Division of Cancer Council Australia and offers an exciting opportunity to apply your project, people and service delivery management experience, as well as demonstrating highly effective stakeholder engagement, leadership and governance skills in a complex federated structure, working across the entire cancer sector. 

The Program Manager will manage all aspect of the delivery of the Cancer Council Federation’s work on the Federal Government funded cancer navigation component of the Australian Cancer Nursing and Navigation Program. This is a high profile, high impact role requiring a purpose driven professional implementation expert. 

You will have responsibility for working with the Navigation Steering Committee to ensure contracted deliverables are achieved within the agreed budget and timeline whilst ensuring risk is effectively managed for all Cancer Council stakeholders.

You will have:

  • More than 5 years’ experience in project management or program implementation in a complex operating environment, including experience working in an Agile environment
  • Highly effective in leading a multi-disciplinary team through a range of complex initiatives to achieve program deliverables
  • Excellent communications skills – ensuring timely, succinct and strategically aligned updates to a broad cross-section of stakeholders.
  • A seasoned diplomat, able to juggle competing points-of-view and negotiate consensus, whilst meeting tight deadlines.
  • The ability to manage uncertainty, problem solve and apply a risk mitigation approach to achieving positive outcomes
  • Exemplary organisation skills, being one step ahead of the team in proactively anticipating obstacles, workshopping solutions and ensuring the seamless running of complex national ways of working
  • Sound governance skills
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office.
  • A team player with a commitment to the charitable purpose of Cancer Council with low ego and high purpose drive.
