Canteen is dedicated to supporting young people and their families affected by cancer. Founded by young cancer patients, our mission is to provide essential programs, services, and resources that positively impact the lives of 12-25 year-olds facing their own diagnosis, dealing with a close family member's cancer, or grieving the loss of a loved one. We are now seeking a Supporter Care Officer to join our team where you will maintain high quality relationships with Canteen’s supporters and fundraisers to ensure the achievement of revenue, retention and relationship goals. This is a high-impact role for a qualified Supporter Care Officer with a natural ability to connect and support.

  • Base Salary + Superannuation + Not-For-Profit Salary Packaging (up to $15,900 of your salary tax-free).

About our role

  • In collaboration with other team members, provide industry leading customer service to Canteen supporters via all Omnichannel engagement channels, including inbound/outbound phone, email, SMS, online/webchat and post.
  • Attend to queries and complaints received via Omnichannel telephone, mail, email, SMS and online/webchat ensuring details of the queries and complaints are centrally recorded.
  • Provide professional, responsive and proactive customer service at all times.
  • Process donations, as per required need and within Canteen’s strict financial compliance standards.
  • Actively participate in cross organisational meetings and projects, as appropriate, to facilitate development of Marketing and Fundraising activities.
  • Attend and utilise SCT training to adapt approach with supporters based on the type of contact or campaign. (eg objectives for bequest supporter stewardship may differ from that of a regular giver)

About You

  • Demonstrated customer service experience and an ability to represent Canteen to supporters in a professional manner;
  • Similar experience in a customer service position for a charity or commercial organisation;
  • Tele-sales, call centre, face to face sales or fundraising experience will be highly regarded.
  • Ability to identify retention opportunities and demonstrates superior retention skills;
  • Excellent database and data entry skills.
  • Solid attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills;
  • Ability to build relationships quickly and easily;
  • Good computer skills, especially MS Office and familiarity with databases;
  • Outstanding communication skills and a natural ability to connect
  • A compassionate values-based approach

*Due to the nature of Canteen’s work, you will be required to (very) occasionally work weekends and evenings. Advance notice will be given when this is the case, and Canteen does have a Time off in Lieu policy for taking leave as agreed with the supervising manager.

Employment Expectations
