Carers Victoria is a leading not-for-profit organisation, working to make sure that the almost one million unpaid carers across the state are understood, recognised and supported.

We do this by providing information, advice and respite services to carers; by hosting education sessions and events to support them in their role; by gathering and analysing data and producing reports about carers and what they need; and by raising broad awareness of carers across the whole community.

We are in a significant period of change, looking at how we can reach and support even more carers through innovative models, systems and thinking.

The Position

We are seeking an experienced Communications Lead to join us in producing compelling materials that support Victoria’s 700,000+ unpaid carers. Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager, you will employ excellent writing skills and communications strategies to deepen engagement across multiple channels.

Core responsibilities of the role include:

  • Develop and deliver written content aimed at enhancing Carers Victoria brand and public awareness.
  • Develop and distribute communications including print and online content, EDMs and internal and external collateral and communications
  • Conduct research to support content and communication strategies, including analysing trends, drawing from competitor activity provided via the National Marketing and Communications working group.
  • Provide media support, including monitoring, drafting releases, preparing media kits and tracking campaign results.

The Person 

This exciting opportunity will suit an individual who is looking for a role that makes a difference. To be successful in this role you would have:   

  • Demonstrated experience in a marketing communications or public relations role  
  • Demonstrated ability to implement a successful marketing and communications strategy.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
  • Proven experience handling multiple activities and priorities simultaneously with strong organisational and time management skills. 
  • Demonstrated superior editorial and copywriting experience and skills, with impeccable spelling, grammar and attention to detail, ability to adjust style and tone, including writing for online platforms. 
  • Digitally savvy and ability to use digital and multimedia tools for communication
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and clearly communicate complex concepts and data both in text and diagrams as appropriate for a variety of audiences. 
  • Strong relationship building skills.

  • Part time 0.8 FTE with excellent hybrid working arrangements 
  • $102,200 gross pro rata + super + salary packaging
  • Offices conveniently located in Melbourne CBD
