The Young Carer Education Engagement Officer (YCEEO) role is a full-time fixed-term position until 30th June 2026, which is subject to ongoing funding. The position attracts a salary package of $89,000 p.a., plus super and salary packaging, 5 weeks annual leave (with 17.5% leave loading) and two wellness days per annum.
Carers WA is the peak body representing the needs and interests of all carers in Western Australia and is part of a national network of Carers Associations providing a range of support services. Carers provide unpaid care and support to family members and friends who have disability, mental illness, a chronic condition, terminal illness, and alcohol or other drug issue or who are frail aged.
Carers WA is a carer friendly workplace and supports staff who are in a caring role.
The role is responsible for increasing engagement opportunities within education facilities (schools, TAFE and universities), community service providers, associated network groups, and local government, to increase awareness and supports for young carers in the community.

This role will have a division of responsibility to cover both Perth Metro and a selection of pre-identified regional areas that have already established youth and community supports, to help grow and expand the program. Knowledge of youth based regional education, health and community engagement skills will help to pioneer the work of the Young Carer team outside of Perth metro. Regional travel to these areas will be required.
Previous experience of working in an outcomes focused and awareness raising role involving young people engaged in state based schools or youth based community organisations is strongly recommended.
