About the role:

Our Early Learning Centre is located on the grounds of St Brendan’s Catholic Primary School. We are seeking motivated and experienced Early Childhood Educators to join our team who excel in understanding the needs of children and are dedicated to creating a warm, caring and safe environment.

Our centre is open from Monday to Friday, during school terms, 7:45am to 3:15pm.

This role is flexible across 2 - 4 days per week (15 - 30 hours).

This is a contracted position for the duration of 2025 and has the potential to be extended for the duration of 2026.

What do the children want?

We asked the children what they would want a new teacher at preschool to be like. Here are some of their answers:

  • To be a calm teacher, kind and nice
  • Talk nicely, not loud and don’t yell
  • Give us good activities to do that are fun
  • A teacher that can do cool things like juggle with a ball
  • Take us on walks to the big school and even the ice-cream shop
  • They should sing songs and do dances and read stories that we like
  • A teacher that can do puzzles and paint at the easel
  • They need to keep our room clean and help us pack away
  • Give us a cuddle when we are sad and when we are happy, and look after us if we hurt ourselves

The Early Childhood Educator is responsible for

  • Assisting in implementing and evaluating programs for children aged 3– 5 years in an Early Learning Centre
  • Working with the Director in ensuring compliance with relevant law, regulations and National Quality Framework
  • Providing a safe, nurturing and positive learning environment for children
  • Building strong and effective relationships with children and their families
  • Ability to form collaborative and positive relationship with colleagues

Requirements

  • Hold a Diploma or a Cert III in Children Services
  • Have a current Working with Children Clearance
  • Completed CHCPRT025 ‘Identify and report children and young people at risk'

Highly Desirable

  • Experience working in Children Services, particularly with children aged 3-5
  • Completed or willing to complete Safe Food Handling training
  • Have or will complete before starting a First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certificate
