About the role:

The Youth Worker role is a permanent part-time position and we have multiple properties on the NSW Central Coast. The role would see you working in our homes for children living in Out of Home Care setting, aged between 11 and 18. The Youth Worker role will operate on a 24/7 rotating roster which will consist of morning, afternoon and night shifts, including sleepovers and awake shifts as needed. You will know your shifts 2 weeks in advance.

Prior experience in supporting individuals with disabilities and complex needs, helping them lead fulfilling lives and promoting their independence and wellbeing is highly desirable and will see you thrive in this position.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Certificate III, Certificate IV or Diploma in Community Services or Youth Work (or be willing to enroll and complete a Diploma of Community Services or Youth Work, or relevant qualifications of Diploma Level or above).
  • Prior experience working in a Youth Worker position is highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated ability to work therapeutically with young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and those who have experienced significant trauma and adversity.
  • Good understanding of trauma informed care, and the importance of consistency and stability in the lives of children and young people.
  • Experience in utilising a broad range of behaviour support strategies.
  • Documentation and reporting writing with a deep commitment to the safeguarding of vulnerable children and young people.
  • Ability to build rapport quickly, have resilience and good professional boundaries.
  • A valid NSW Driver’s licence and your own insured vehicle.
  • A Working With Children Check and Criminal History Check.
  • A Current First Aid Certificate or willing to obtain before commencement.
